CHI: THE THERAPY TO HEALTH

Originated from ancient China, chi is a powerful exercise for the development of mind and body. The concept of chi extends beyond the physical body.  There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art and has value in treating or preventing many health problems.

Most of us want to stay in shape as we enjoy a healthier and happier life.  Although Chi movement might be slow and gentle to perform, it doesn’t leave you breathless instead it addresses the key components of fitness and health benefits.

  • Strengthening. Chi exercise can improve both lower-body and upper-body strength. By strengthening the muscles, the joints keep stable and protected. Performing it regularly, chi can be comparable to resistance training and brisk walking in which it tones up the muscle as it improves endurance and strength including the entire body.
  • Flexibility.  Flexibility improves our range of motion, making us more functional.    Chi may focuses on improving flexibility and relaxation. This may improve posture and makes it easier for most to hold and maintain good posture. It also helps individual to become more aware of their posture, alignment and patterns of movement. It is beneficial for those with back problems, as it provides strength and flexibility of the spine. Chi has been linked to impressive health benefits in all age groups.
  • Balance.  More than 50 percent of diseases from Western Society that is presented to doctors are caused by mind-related problems, such as stress. Through the use of chi, it helps improves the balance of the mind and body. Having a better balance calms the unconscious mind. To include, good posture also promotes better balance, thus preventing falls and the resulting injuries.
  • Proprioception. The ability to sense the position of one’s body in space — declines with age. Chi greatly helps train in this sense, which is a function of sensory neurons in the inner ear and stretch receptors in the muscles and ligaments. Acquiring chi energy may also help to reduce fear. Fear of falling can make you more likely to fall; studies show that chi training may help reduce that fear and makes you calmer as you learn to balance your emotions.
  • Mind Development. The mind is the most important aspect of health in which the mind controls the body. Chi, as one of the most powerful mind-body exercises, teaches every individual to be aware of the intrinsic energy from which he or she can perceive greater self-control and empowerment. Stress is the root of all diseases and chi simply offers a tool to help you cope with these stressful and busy, modern-day life by appreciating the tranquility and the nature around you. Surely, everyone wants to achieve mind healing as well as relaxation and concentration. With Chi, these positive developments of mind and body can be nurtured well.

Chi practice may lead every individual to a path of a healthy life and well-being. This may be considered as one of the powerful life energy within all human beings. Chi grows in when an individual is in balanced and in harmony. Once the body starts to adapt this powerful energy, chi begins to circulate and with that, the development of one’s well-being will start soar.
